How to take care of your health according to your age

There are thousands of articles, books and other materials available in the world that tell us how to stay healthy. The purpose of this article is to separate the recommendations and tips by age group since not all of us have the same needs.

From 1 to 10 years

Staying healthy starts from the moment we are born and will depend on the habits acquired in this age. Mothers can begin to take care of the health of their little ones during breastfeeding, feeding them healthily. When babies can already eat solid foods, you should begin to accustom them to healthy food. The pediatrician or family doctor can recommend a vitamin supplement if you consider it appropriate, but remember that this does not replace a healthy diet.

From 11 to 20 years

Good health is fundamental for young women. It is important to remember some important things about this age group. At this stage, women experience accelerated growth, which may be accompanied by what is known as “growing pains”. In addition, your body is preparing for the start of menstruation. Puberty begins and the reproductive organs begin to develop. Good nutrition and physical exercise will help adolescents to spend more tranquility and less likely to indulge in behaviors that are harmful to their health. Always remember to keep communication channels open, as they are essential to guide them in this very complex stage.

20-39 years old

This is the stage in which the woman develops on a personal level, as a professional and as a family mother. Many experts agree that this is also a time when women postpone or neglect their own health in order to provide care to others. But you must remember that if you are not well, you are sick, tired or you do not nourish yourself properly, you will hardly be able to take care of yours. To take care of you, we leave you the following recommendations.

Eat more healthy foods. Reducing the consumption of fats and increasing the consumption of raw fruits and vegetables is essential on the way to stay well nourished healthy.

Good diet habits. While there are many diet plans out there, the simplest is almost always the most effective. It takes care of the size of the portions and the ingredients (fat, calories and sugar) in the foods because this gives better results when we try to maintain ourselves at the ideal weight.

Do exercise. Going to the gym or doing any sports discipline is excellent for your health. In the case of women in this age group, they will get extra benefits from aerobic exercises such as running, dancing or swimming, as well as burning calories helps you tone muscles and prevent sagging.

Exercise at all times. A station away from the door so you can walk a little further, use the stairs instead of the elevator and, in general, try to keep yourself always moving. Not only will you burn extra calories but you will avoid falling into lethargy and laziness.

Take care of your reproductive health Visit your gynecologist every year to get a pap smear, essential to prevent diseases and cervical cancer.

Breast self-examination. Remember to do it every month after your period. After 39 years you should go to get a mammogram.

Your mental health as a priority. Sometimes our health problems come from a psychological cause. Seek help if you need it.

Avoid unhealthy relationships. If you are in a relationship where you are not comfortable or suffer from abuse (of any kind) seek help or stay away. Try your welfare first.

40 years or older

From this age on, women go through another difficult stage: menopause. However, this does not have to prevent you from enjoying life and staying healthy. In this stage you must take special care with your reproductive health and with the intake of calcium to avoid conditions such as osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor to choose the prevention methods for your case, and to decrease the symptoms of menopause. Other recommendations are:

  • Do not stop exercising, but avoid forcing yourself too much to not cause any harm. Measure your limits
  • Do not forget to get your Pap test and mammogram every year
